Aussie Hip-Hop
Latest single for Australian MC, Urthboy. This was filmed and sped up something like 30 times real speed! Imagine messing it up and having to do it again! Haha!
The official video clip for Urthboy’s latest single, Hellsong. Urthboy would have to be my favourite Australian MC, in fact one of my favourite MCs fullstop. All of his work I’ve enjoyed, from his solo stuff to his work in The Herd etc. Anyway this is off his latest album which is due for release very shortly. I look forward to it! Enjoy.
Brad Strut is an MC from the Melbourne crew, Lyrical Commission. He does a fair bit of solo work too which is all pretty good. Anyway, this is a new track of his which is sounding really good, and has an EP (Fallout Shelter) and LP (Rejuvenation) which come out at the end of May.
Plutonic Lab is a producer out of my home town of Melbourne, Australia. He’s probably better known for being one half of Muph & Plutonic, but his solo work just shows that he can do it alone. This video is pretty interesting, and I like they way it works with the beats etc. Anyway, check it out.
Astronomy Class have been around for a couple of years now. They are Ozi Batla (The Herd), Chasm and Sir Robbo. I’ve been lucky enough to see these guys play live a few times and they’re really good. I really enjoyed their first album “Exit Strategy” so I can’t wait for this new album of theirs to drop. This song is really cool, and the video clip is a classic! Check it.
The latest video clip from Melbourne hip-hop artists Muph & Plutonic for their song, Don’t Worry About Nothin’. The song is really cruisey, and I guess the video reflects that. This was one of my favourite songs for 2008, and they’ve always been a group I’ve enjoyed listening to. Even their solo work (Muphin’s and also Plutonic Lab’s) is really good. If you haven’t heard of them, check out this video and then do a bit of a search for their other work.
I saw these guys play live a couple of years ago, and while I wasn’t totally into their music at the time, they went off! There’s only two of them but they still had stage presence and the music they had was suited more to live performances than on the stereo. Anyway, Low Budget just released a new album called Laserdisc and you can tell that it’d go off seeing them live again! It’s got a pretty oldschool feel to it as you’ll be able to tell if you watch the video:
This is a pretty cool video from a live recording at Triple R radio station in Melbourne. It’s Seth Sentry, 360 and Pez rapping out some new lyrics they wrote up the day before. It’s quite good and worth a look.
The first few pieces aren’t too great IMO but once it gets going there is some amazing artwork here, especially towards the end. Plutonic Lab brings you the backing tune.
Have a look at this guy freestyle riding on his BMX to the Hilltop Hoods song, Nosebleed Section.
